Samples

If you are required to bring in a urine or stool sample following a consultation with a GP please ensure the sample is brought in with your name, date of birth and NHS number all written on the bottle. This allows us to send the sample to the hospital, should it be required, and will ensure that the sample arrives in the correct department and can be processed in a timely manner.

For samples that do need to be sent to the hospital for further testing, please make sure they are either brought in first thing in the morning before 12pm or before 3pm in the afternoon so that they can be sent off the same day. In some circumstances we can keep a urine samples overnight until the next collection in the morning but please do not bring in any samples for the hospital after 3pm on a Friday as they will be rejected and you will be required to bring in another sample at the beginning of the following week.
